Brilliant things to do

this Winter

Winter is upon us and the crisp air these days only increases our desire to stay warm and indoors. Roman museums and restaurants can warm our bodies like in no other season and nowhere else.

08.10.22 – 26.03.23 VAN GOGH. PALAZZO BONAPARTE

This exhibition shows over 50 works to celebrate the genius 170 years after his birth, a chronological journey that refers to the periods and places where the painter lived: from the Dutch to his stay in Paris, to Arles, up to St. Remy and Auvers -Sur-Oise, where he put an end to his tormented life.

13.07.2022 – 29.01.2023 DOMIZIANO IMPERATORE, ODIO E AMORE. MUSEI CAPITOLINI

The exhibition itinerary, divided into 15 rooms, retraces the figure of Domitian, complex and unloved by his contemporaries and subsequently misunderstood by posterity due to the historical and literary sources which were essentially against him.

The analysis of material sources, especially epigraphic ones, has recently restored the image of an emperor attentive to good administration and relations with the army and the people, devoted to the gods and a reformer of the morality of men.

A story that this exhibition helps to rewrite and understand.

The exhibition of an exhibition, or rather the revival of an exhibition at the Galleria dell’Oca from 1978 which has remained one of the milestones in the history of contemporary exhibitions due to the juxtaposition, at the time considered unscrupulous, between the works of Mario Merz – a leading exponent of the neo-avant-garde that had undermined traditional techniques and processes of art – and the paintings of the masters of the Italian twentieth century.
